Clients depend on Jay to manage their family financial planning, growth and liquidity matters, and they rely on his direction when facing sudden wealth acquisition, partner disputes, buyouts, business sales, divorces, retirement or death in the family. His wide-ranging expertise and his multiple licenses and certifications allow him not only to focus on transaction details but also to keep a vigilant eye on every client’s financial big picture.
Jay was the managing member of JRF Asset Advisors LLC from 1988 through 2023, wherein his firm recently merged into Onyx Bridge Wealth Group. Jay serves as an independent investment advisor and oversees more than $250 million in client assets. He holds numerous FINRA securities licenses, including Series 7, 24, 27, 63 and 65, and a Life, Accident and Health license. Jay is a Certified Financial Planner, Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst. He also has his Certificate in Blockchain and Digital Assets.
As an industry thought leader, Jay has contributed articles to or been quoted in publications including Private Wealth Magazine, The Washington Post, Journal of Accountancy, CFA Magazine, The CPA Journal and Divorce Magazine’s blog. He has been featured in Medical Economics Magazine for his work as a financial advisor for medical professionals in the country and has been recognized by Reuters Advisor Point. Jay has also been called to testify as a financial expert witness in several business and divorce litigation proceedings.
Previously, Jay was a partner at Janover LLC, a Top 200 accounting and tax firm, from 1998 – 2022. He was also a financial consultant at Shearson Lehman, and he began his career at Deloitte & Touche.
Education:
He received his Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from New York University and his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the State University of New York, Albany.
Get to Know:
Jay and his wife lived in New York City before relocating to Florida last year. They have two grown children. Jay has served on several boards – including – INAA, a global association of independent accounting firms, HOBY – Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership and has served as Treasurer on three residential property boards.
Jay has been a judge for the New York University Stern School of Business $300,000 Entrepreneurs Challenge for the past ten years. An avid runner, Jay has completed four New York City Marathons (including the 2022 marathon, with both of his children), the NYC Triathlon (swimming down the Hudson) and a Tough Mudder. He also enjoys pickleball, tennis, skiing and travel.
