Joe Lager is the Vice President of Onyx Bridge Tax Group. He began his career at mid-sized public accounting firms in the New York metropolitan area, gaining experience across a variety of accounting services including standard client services, tax, audit, and litigation support. Joe joined Onyx Bridge Tax Group in November 2013 as a Senior Tax Associate and has grown with the firm into his current leadership role.

Joe earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from SUNY New Paltz, graduating cum laude. While at SUNY New Paltz, he was awarded membership into Sigma Beta Delta, the International Honor Society in Business, Management, and Administration. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®).

As a founding member of Polan & Hollis, Larry brings extensive experience in accounting and auditing, taxation, and management consulting for a wide range of entities. He has developed deep expertise in closely-held businesses across industries including computer consulting, technology, retail, commercial and residential real estate, interstate commissions, investment companies, employee benefit plans, and service industries.

Larry earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Maryland and is a Certified Public Accountant. His professional associations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), Health & Life Insurance Agents, and he is a FINRA Registered Representative. He previously served as Chair of the MACPA Management of a Certified Public Accounting Practice Committee and as a member of the State of Maryland Task Force for Computers in School Systems.

Ben earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, cum laude, from Towson University and a Master of Science in Taxation from the University of Baltimore. He holds the CPA, PFS (Personal Financial Specialist), CFP® (Certified Financial Planner), and CDFA® (Certified Divorce Financial Analyst) designations.

A lifelong sports fan, Ben grew up playing football and continues to enjoy attending live sporting events. He is the proud father of a daughter, Bailey.

Yohan Allender serves as a Senior Consultant of Client Services at Onyx Bridge Tax Group. In this role, he focuses on business development and ensuring the client experience remains second-to-none. He also supports the firm’s Tax and Accounting practice and leads the firm’s mentoring program.

Education:

Yohan earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Industrial Psychology from the University of Maryland and obtained an MBA with a focus in Finance. During his time at the University of Maryland, he competed in track.

Originally from Miami, Florida, Yohan moved to Severna Park, Maryland in high school. He now lives in Kentlands, Maryland with his wife, two daughters, and their Boston Terrier, Buster. Outside of work, Yohan enjoys cycling and golfing and is actively involved in community and charitable efforts, including supporting No Kid Hungry and participating in the annual Salisbury University Seagull Century bike ride.

Patricia “Pat” Biscoe uses her extensive experience to assist with tax returns for individuals, businesses, trusts, estates, and nonprofits. She also oversees bookkeeping for clients, provides tax planning, and serves as a taxpayer advocate for the IRS and other taxing authorities. With her depth of expertise, Pat contributes to the firm’s growth while providing clients with a broad range of knowledge and resources.

Pat is a native of Montgomery County, Maryland, and attended the University of Maryland, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Consumer Economics. She also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from University of Maryland University College and a Master’s degree in Taxation from American University.

Pat currently resides in Wilmington, North Carolina. She has two grown children, a daughter and a son, and is a Certified Canine Massage Therapist. In her free time, she enjoys learning the history of her city (especially ghost stories), cooking, traveling, and wine tasting.

Diane is a native of Montgomery County, Maryland, and earned her first degree in Speech and Hearing from the University of Maryland, followed by a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

Patti Johnson serves as the Accounting Supervisor and Controller for Onyx Bridge Tax Group. With more than 25 years of experience in accounting and bookkeeping roles at both large and small tax and accounting firms in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area, Patti oversees the organization’s accounting operations, including those for Onyx Bridge Wealth Group and Onyx Bridge Retirement Group. She provides bookkeeping and tax preparation services, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance for the firm’s clientele.

Managing over 1,000 returns annually, Danielle works diligently to ensure clients have what they need and that their questions are answered.

Nurul Hoq serves as the Senior Tax & Accounting Associate at Onyx Bridge Tax Group. Bringing more than ten years of accounting and financial experience to his role, Nurul is an integral part of the tax preparation and daily accounting maintenance process for clients. His responsibilities include tax research and preparation, resolving state and federal tax notices, and assisting with federal, state, and local tax audits.

Education:

Nurul earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Studies from Jagannath University in Dhaka, Bangladesh. After moving to the United States, he obtained a Master of Business Administration from the University of Bridgeport, where he received a Business Merit Scholarship and was a member of Delta Mu Delta, the international honor society.

Barbara Thomas joined the EagleStone team in November 2018 as Sr. Consultant – Client Services. Barbara oversees small businesses and individual client records in order to maintain bookkeeping records, process annual reports, and assist in the completion of tax returns.

Barbara attended NYU, Cornell University, and California State University. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from CalState, and a degree in accounting from UCLA in 1988.Additionally, while attending UCLA, she received an award for excellence in Accounting. Before her start in accounting, Barbara spent 11 years in the music industry in Hollywood. After heading back to school for accounting, spent 2 years as the bookkeeper for a heavy metal rock star and moved to Maryland in 1995. She has previously worked for a number of accounting firms, including Aronson, LLC for 25 years.

Barbara grew up in Roslyn, NY, but currently resides in Ranson, WV, with her husband, David, and dog, Cassie. In her free time, Barbara enjoys going to the race track in Charles Town. She is also an avid eBay user.

Bruna Burke is a Tax Manager at Onyx Bridge Wealth Group and an IRS Enrolled Agent (EA). She provides year-round tax consulting and reviews tax filings for both individuals and businesses, with particular experience in international tax matters.

Bruna earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting in Brazil. She also studied Accounting at Florida International University (FIU). Bruna is an IRS Enrolled Agent (EA).

Joshua Waller brings over twenty years of experience as a member of the Tax and Accounting team. As Tax Manager, he oversees and works closely with the accounting staff to provide quality services to business and individual tax clients. He is dedicated to meeting and exceeding client expectations.

Joshua earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia and a Master of Business Administration from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia. He later returned to complete the required coursework and is a CPA candidate in the state of Maryland. He is also a licensed Enrolled Agent.
